Only a few weeks after his wife walked out and stopped wearing her wedding ring, Paul Scholes listed his opulent marital house for sale.
Scholes, his spouse Claire, and their three kids occupied a contemporary detached home with seven bedrooms, which is currently listed for £3.8 million.
Hailed as one of the ‘finest homes in Saddleworth,’ Greater Manchester, it is located near the United legend’s upbringing on a council estate and features a heated indoor pool, a gym, a steam and sauna room, a home theater room, a games room, a five-a-side football field, a netball court, and a putting green.
Within the beautiful gardens, there’s a ‘executive detached residence’ and six reception rooms as well.
Scholes purchased the opulent mansion shortly after the 1998 World Cup, but in 2015, renowned architects completely renovated and redesigned it.
Claire was said to have moved out of the house two months prior and was now residing 20 minutes away.
In addition, she was seen in pictures without her wedding band, which raised rumors that the couple’s marriage was in trouble.
Scholes, who is thought to be worth £27 million, and Claire are reportedly inconsolable.
“You have to feel for them because they both value family above everything else,” the person stated. Despite their long relationship, nobody anticipated this.
When Scholes was eighteen, he met Claire at his neighborhood bar. Six years later, they were married. At the height of his career, he was only 29 when he famously announced his retirement from the England squad in 2004 because he missed her.
The 13,000 square foot house is listed for the Rightmove website, where it is praised as “standout” and “pristine,” with the added claim that its current owners are to be commended.
It continues, saying that “viewing makes it clear how much thought and effort has gone into this exceptional property—which can only be fully appreciated in person.”
The house is hidden behind enormous automatic gates and encircled by beautifully manicured gardens. It features three garages with remote electric doors and an undercover arrivals area that can accommodate a large number of cars. It also includes a kids’ play area, a gym, a golf putting range, and a five-a-side football field.
Described as “the heart of the home,” the modern open-plan kitchen adjoins outdoor patio areas and serves as both a dining area and a family room. The master bedroom features a huge balcony with views of the surrounding countryside, a designer en suite bathroom, and separate dressing rooms for “His” and “Hers.”
According to the poster, a lot of glass has been used throughout the house, allowing a lot of natural light to come in.
It continues, saying: “The front entrance leads to a spacious, double-height hallway with a staircase leading to the grand reception hallway and an abundance of natural light streaming in from the windows on the upper floors.”
“There are four main areas for entertaining on the property: a formal dining room with patio access, a family room with bi-folding doors leading to a large games room, and a lounge with a fitted bar and balcony.”
The workout room also has a BATAK machine, which professional athletes use frequently to keep their lightning-fast reflexes.
The floor to ceiling windows surrounding the outer border of the mansion provide breathtaking views of the surrounding wooded region as you ascend each level, ensuring that every room is well-lit by natural light.
In addition, it has a private L-shaped pool, and nearby are a sauna, steam room, and sensory area.
Additionally, visitors can unwind on the rooftop terrace to fully appreciate the expansive vistas.
After stepping away from the game in 2011 and spending a season back at Old Trafford in 2012, Scholes is currently content with his role as a pundit for BT Sport.
During his illustrious career at Manchester United, where he won two Champions Leagues and eleven Premier League titles between 1994 and 2013, the former England international made 718 appearances.
Along with fellow United greats Ryan Giggs, Phil and Gary Neville, Nicky Butt, and David Beckham, he is also a co-owner of Salford City.
