Prior to Manchester United’s return to action on Sunday, Erik ten Hag has been given two health boosts in his squad.
After their Christmas break, the Red Devils are back in the saddle and getting ready for their FA Cup fourth-round matchup against Newport County this coming Saturday.
While the result of United’s most recent match, a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, left fans disappointed, they were thrilled to see Lisandro Martinez make his eagerly anticipated return when he was added in the second half. The defensive tandem of Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw appeared to be nearing full fitness on Tuesday when they were pictured at Carrington during team practice. When the latter was forced to withdraw at the last minute, only in time to miss the Spurs game, Aaron Wan-Bissaka was positioned out of place on the left side.
Maguire hasn’t featured for United since their most recent Champions League group-stage encounter in December. Due to a groin injury, he was substituted off the pitch in the 40th minute and has not been in the starting lineup for the past month.
