He called Vinícius Júnior the “best in the world” after scoring twice in Real Madrid’s 3-2 Champions League win at Napoli on Tuesday. Jude Bellingham praised the pair’s play together.
After Leo Ostigard put the home team ahead at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, the England international set up Vinicius to level the score. Before halftime, Bellingham scored an amazing goal on his own to put Madrid ahead 2-1.
From the penalty spot, Piotr Zielinski tied the game at 2-2. Then, Federico Valverde’s shot hit goalie Alex Meret and went in, giving Madrid all three points and putting them on top of Group C.
Movistar asked Bellingham about his growing relationship with Vinicius. “He’s probably the best in the world for me,” he said. “He’s a great player, one of the best I’ve ever played with.”
He has now scored eight goals in his first nine games for Real Madrid in all categories.
He said, “I believe in myself, but I didn’t think it would be this good.” “I ought to do it for the staff and my team.”
People compared Bellingham’s goals to those of Napoli’s and Argentina’s great Maradona. The midfielder picked up the ball just inside the other team’s half and then went on a crazy single run.
“That’s too much!” What Bellingham said. “That was a good goal. From what I’ve seen on movies and YouTube, his work was a little better than mine, or a lot better. I’m just trying to help in a Jude way.”
When asked about Bellingham, coach Carlo Ancelotti said, “It’s crazy that he’s only 20.” “He seems to be thirty years old based on his personality.” He is always on task and knows what to do. That doesn’t make sense for a 20-year-old player. And then there’s the trait he has: he’s strong.
“Well, it’s a bit surprising, but it’s surprising everyone.”
Vinicius missed a month with a leg injury and just came back last week, so Bellingham and he have only been able to play together in five games so far.
Ancelotti said, “We tell Vinicius to find the spot where he feels best, whether it’s on the outside or the inside.” “I think they work well together; they’re very creative.” It’s dangerous when they’re both on the left at the same time.
