After Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Wolves, manager Ruben Amorim reflected on the team’s performance, particularly regarding their defensive lapses. Speaking to Amazon, he pointed out similarities between the goals conceded against Wolves and their previous match against Tottenham.
“Yes, against Tottenham. It’s the same. Onana cannot go to the ball, I think,” Amorim said, suggesting that goalkeeper Andre Onana should have avoided the challenge. He noted that some players were not focused on the ball during the incident but chose not to dwell on that.
Despite the setback, Amorim highlighted a positive aspect: “I think the good thing is we were near the goal, even with 10 men. That is a good thing, but we lost.” He acknowledged the difficulty of playing with a man down after the red card and recognized that not winning is always a step back for the team.
He emphasized the team’s effort: “Even with one less guy, we tried to push forward, and I think we were near something.” However, Wolves capitalized on their numerical advantage, scoring a second goal during a counter-attack.
Following the loss, Manchester United is in 14th place in the Premier League, just eight points above the relegation zone, raising concerns about their position and future performances.
