Luis Diaz’s father celebrated his 55th birthday on Sunday, and Liverpool arranged for him and his entire family to go to Merseyside for the holidays.
Following the horrific incident of Luis Manuel Diaz and his wife Cilenis Marulanda’s abduction in Colombia, the group has given their number seven all the support they need.
Before being freed, Diaz Sr. was held captive by terrorists for more than two weeks, despite the fact that his mother Marulanda was promptly saved.
Subsequently, he reconnected with his child and witnessed Colombia beat Brazil 2-1 in Barranquilla, where he scored twice. Following that, he flew to Liverpool with his family.
The club set up a private jet for the Diaz family so they could spend Christmas on Merseyside. Diaz Sr. was in the stands for Saturday’s 1-1 tie with Man City.
The following day was also Diaz’s father’s fifty-fifth birthday, so the Liverpool winger’s house was bustling with celebrations.
Gera Ponce, Diaz’s wife, organized the party, which brought Diaz Sr. and Marulanda together with their children, including the brothers Jesus and Roller and sister Anny.
“I want to thank God for allowing me to celebrate another year of life,” Diaz Sr. wrote on Instagram.
“My wife, kids, family, and daughter-in-law for letting me spend this beautiful day [in this way].”
“May God bless you, you have my undying love.”
The Diaz family is expected to remain in Merseyside over Christmas and most likely into New Year’s, however their precise stay in the UK is unknown.
Jurgen Klopp talked about the club’s responsibility to make sure Diaz Sr., his spouse, and their children got home safely after Saturday’s draw at the Etihad.
“Now that they are here, he will have more moments to share,” he stated to Sky Sports.
I’m happy for them all because the family is together and things are going well. They found the club to be of considerable assistance.
“That situation, with all of its drawbacks, was not pleasant; the group’s reaction was superb.
It’s wonderful that they have finally arrived. It’s a great combination for the family at Christmas, of course.
