Since his trauma of being abducted in his native Colombia last autumn, Luis Diaz’s father has been a frequent attendee at Liverpool matches. Tonight, he witnessed his son score a goal for the Reds against Luton.
When Diaz senior was still in prison, the forward scored a stoppage time level in the rematch in November. Fortunately, the 27-year-old’s most recent goal against the Hatters did not come against such a touching backdrop.
With the Colombian’s goal making the score 3-1 at Anfield that evening, the cameras focused on his father in the stands, who gave everyone a hearty high five and celebrated with a joyful fist pump that resembled those that Jurgen Klopp let out just after the final whistle.
May Lucho’s father live to see his son achieve his dreams!
