Scott McTominay is almost done with his planned move from Manchester United to Napoli. This could make it possible for Manchester United to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
The 27-year-old has played all of his club football at Old Trafford. He joined the United School system when he was five years old.
So, he is one of the “homegrown” players in United’s current Premier League team.
McTominay, on the other hand, is almost ready to leave United for Napoli after long talks between the two clubs. The Scot is now in the process of planning his departure.
Mail Sport has learned that Napoli will pay around £26 million for McTominay. He has come on as a replacement in all three of United’s games this season so far.
The Athletic also said that the deal is said to have a “sell-on clause” that would let United get a piece of McTominay’s next transfer fee if Napoli moved him.
McTominay’s last game for United was last Saturday when they lost 2-1 at Brighton. Bill Gilmour, another defender from Scotland, also played in that game.
Napoli has also been linked with Gilmour this summer, but McTominay is said to have recently become the Italian club’s top middle target.
Last season, Napoli placed 10th in Serie A. The year before, they won the championship.
Rafa Marin, Alessandro Buongiorno, David Neres, and Leonardo Spinazzola have all been signed since then.
Romelu Lukaku, a striker for Chelsea, is also almost done with his move to Naples.
If United sell McTominay, they should have more room and money to go after Manuel Ugarte, a defender for Paris Saint-Germain.
The first two games of the new Ligue 1 season for PSG did not have Ugarte in them because he has made it clear that he wants to join United.
