This famous field was called the “Theatre of Dreams” by Sir Bobby Charlton himself.

But this one couldn’t have been made up by anyone.

They are not Harry Maguire or Andre Onana.

How people felt on the field and in the stands showed what it all meant.

Maguire scored the goal in the 72nd minute.

The much-criticized United No. 1 then stopped a penalty in the seventh minute of extra time, which was the last kick of the game. Jordan Larsson, a substitute, is the son of former United striker Henrik Larsson. Just amazing, really amazing.

What about Maguire?

He was kicked off the team last season and then made to look bad when his captain’s armband was taken away.

He was for sale if anyone was interested. Maguire was making a noise.

He wanted a good send-off if he left, but Manchester United and him could not agree on a price.

He decided to stay, and the drive that brought him to Old Trafford in the first place has shown since.

What a good model for stars who are sad…

While the game was at halftime, Christian Eriksen, a substitute, sent in a perfect pass from deep on the right side. Harry Maguire wanted it more than Rasmus Falk.

He won the ball and put a downward shot past the goalie and into the net.

He was thrilled, and so were his friends.

As soon as he got out of the group of happy people, he turned to The Stretford End, made a heart with his hands, and hit the badge on his shirt. Fans really liked it.

Anyone who likes sports loves a story about someone getting better.

Yesterday, Maguire was the best player against Sheffield United.

The Red Devils also needed it to get back on track in the Champions League after losing their first two games.

Then there was excitement in the last few seconds.

A penalty was given because Scott McTominay was found to have fouled Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Onana also made a great save because he was right.

When the referee blew his whistle, Onana was hit, and the whole bench ran out onto the field to celebrate.

Scenes that didn’t match up with what happened in the first half, which was so dull that the judge lost it before it was over. There are times when this team does a great job of letting you get lost in your own thoughts.

At least for the tourists, the first few minutes gave them hope.

Andre Onana made sure to block Elias Achouri’s long shot, which was going wide. It’s a nice change this time.

An early warning was sent off when Diogo Gonçalves hit the post after a quick break.

United was trying to use Scott McTominay’s hitting skills again, which were first seen in a Scotland shirt.

In a 4-1-4-1 shape, McTominay was able to get forward and try to score another goal to add to the two he scored against Brentford and the one he scored last weekend at Bramall Lane.

When Marcus Rashford did find him, though, he shot high, just like he did when Rasmus Hojlund’s smart backheel brought him the ball.

Well, the beginning of the second half did at least wake us up. Onana made a save on a shot from Lukas Lerager that came from the edge of the box.

Erik Ten Hag switched out his defensive center for Eriksen for the second straight home game so that Eriksen could help create more chances.

To start the game, the Dane hit a low shot from the edge of the area that Kamil Grabara saved behind him.

Rashford broke through and went down on the edge of the box after Grabara slid on top of him. People called for a penalty. It was close.

But the linesman raised his flag for Rashford to be offside, even though replays show that he wasn’t. VAR could not be used because the judge hadn’t given a penalty.

Okay with that?

Again, Rashford got through and was onside, but his chance was lost when he hit the ball hard with his first touch.

He is still one goal behind this season

Bruno Fernandes scored the goal that put Alejandro Garnacho out of the game. Good first touch, a bad second, and the goalie picked up the ball.

You had a feeling that goal would be reached, and it was.
