Liverpool see off Luton Town at Anfield to maintain title charge

On Sunday, the Reds defeated the Blues at Wembley to celebrate a record-tying tenth League Cup victory. In the 118th minute, Virgil van Dijk scored the game’s lone goal with a powerful header.

The Dutchman put up an outstanding performance overall. Moreover, goalie Caoimhin Kelleher excelled, making nine saves, two of which were outstanding efforts that kept Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher from scoring.

It was no surprise that the pair received a lot of praise, but Diaz, in our opinion, gave an outstanding performance over the course of the 120 minutes. In the last third, he set an exemplary example.

The Reds needed a captain up front after Mohamed Salah, Diogo Dalot, and Darwin Nunez suffered recent injuries, and Diaz filled the job admirably with his relentless attacking runs.

The 27-year-old performed most things correctly, but he was unable to locate the back of the net. The Colombian completed 100% of his long balls (3/3) and had an 89% passing accuracy.

In addition, he completed five dribbles, won nine duels, and set up four opportunities for his teammates. Diaz gave a selfless performance, putting in almost 120 minutes of hard work for the squad.

On Wednesday night at Anfield, Liverpool will resume their FA Cup fifth round match against Southampton.

With the high-stakes nature of the Carabao Cup final and the necessity to preserve important players for the upcoming Premier League and European matches, manager Jurgen Klopp has alluded to the possibility of changes.

After giving it his all for 120 minutes in the championship game, we won’t be shocked if Diaz is one of the players sitting on the bench. Wataru Endo, who was seen wearing a protective boot, might not be able to play in the match.
