A story from Marca said that German midfielder İlkay Gündoğan (33) was upset that FC Barcelona lost 2-1 to Real Madrid in Saturday’s El Clásico. They were ahead 1-0 thanks to Gündoğan’s goal, but Jude Bellingham scored two goals in the second half, one in extra time, to give Real Madrid all three points.
When he talked to reporters after the game, Gündoğan seemed very angry because Barcelona’s loss put them four points behind league leaders Real Madrid. He was especially angry about how the players were acting in the locker room.
“I don’t want to say something wrong, but I was in the locker room. Everyone was disappointed, but especially after such a big game, I wanted to see more frustration, anger, and disappointment,” the treble winner said.
He went on to say, “When you lose and don’t do anything, it shows on the field…” If we don’t get better at that, Real Madrid or even Girona will easily beat us, and I didn’t come here to lose games like that.
After the loss, Barcelona is in third place, four points behind Real Madrid and Girona. Atlético Madrid is in fourth place, two points behind Barcelona, but they have two games in hand.
