Two Real Madrid players were upset about the roles they have been given for the team this season.
First, Rodrygo talked about how he doesn’t like playing in the middle of the attack when he’s asked to in Madrid. Then Eduardo Camavinga said he didn’t like playing left-back, even though he did a great job filling in when someone was out.
Rodrygo said, “Being able to play different roles is always important.” I’ve always been clear that I’m good at playing on the wings. I just don’t like being a number nine, but at my club, I have to be one. I can move around the field better on the national team, which has helped my game.
Camavinga is also sick of being asked about it. He said, “Every day people ask me about it.” I’m someone who helps the team out when they need it. I didn’t know this role before, but I’ve become comfortable in it, both with Real Madrid and the French national team. I don’t like that position very much, though. But if I have to play there, I do it, even if it’s not always fun.
I think everyone knows that. It’s still me, the playmaker. Because Carlo Ancelotti is known for never getting angry, and because both players made it clear that they are willing to change for their team, the words probably won’t make a big deal in Madrid. Rodrygo should make sure his boss is happy, though, since Ancelotti will almost certainly be Rodrygo’s next foreign manager next summer.
