‘I was trying to keep cool’ – Travis Kelce shouted out as impressed by Gillette Stadium’s warm welcome for Taylor Swift

Sure, there were some New England fans who booed Taylor Swift at Sunday’s Chiefs-Patriots game in Foxborough, Massachusetts. But when Swift was shown on the GIllette Stadium video board with her father, Scott, and Brittany Mahomes, the cheers far outweighed the jeers for the superstar singer.

Adding Swift’s quote that “Gillette Stadium is the most joyful place on earth” probably endeared her to fans even more. The applause for Swift caught the attention of her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

As he said on the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce was full of pride when the Patriots supporters cheered for Swift. “I’ll say this: They showed Taylor at the game and I mean, you don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colors,” Kelce said.

“Just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed Taylor on the screen. “There might have been a few Brads and Chad’s that were booing but for the most part, everybody was … screaming their tail off for her.”

Kelce was trying not to get too caught up in the excitement he felt while hearing those cheers for his main squeeze during the game. “And yeah, I was trying to keep it cool. I was like, ‘Don’t show your cards. Don’t show your cards.’ It was fun,” Kelce said.

“Shout out to the Patriots, New England. Taylor’s on board or she’s on record saying that that stadium is one of the funnest that she’s played at. So for them to show her is just kind of, I guess, showing her some love. So shout out to the Patriots for doing that.”

Swift’s father, Scott, was spotted sporting a Chiefs sweater, as noticed by Jason Kelce, Kelce’s brother and podcast co-host. Jason Kelce made a joke about how Scott looked better in Eagles green, but he thought the hoodie, which was produced by Westside Storey in Kansas City, looked nice.
