Real Madrid has had a lot of bad luck with injuries this season. They lost their starting goalie Thibaut Courtois and a key member of their defense in Eder Militao to ACL injuries very early in the season.
David Alaba, who was also a regular player, tore his ACL last month. This meant that Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez were the only two senior center backs for Real Madrid.
Real Madrid chose not to add a new center back this summer, even though the situation calls for it. Instead, they will depend on the players they already have and Aurelien Tchouameni as a backup.
Reports say, though, that Carlo Ancelotti and his team will soon have one of their hurt stars back on the field.
Elder Militao will be ready for the UCL match against RB Leipzig.
As Tomas Gonzalez-Martin said on El Debate, Eder Militao is now in the last stage of his treatment and should be fully recovered in time for Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig in March.
After having surgery on his knee in August 2023, the 26-year-old was going to miss almost the whole season. But he has worked very hard to get better and has already started working on the field again in the last few weeks.
Militao will soon be able to start working again with the rest of the team, which will be led by Ancelotti.
And if everything goes as planned, the Brazilian player will be ready to play again on March 6 against RB Leipzig in the second game of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
It is thought that Militao’s early return was one of the reasons Real Madrid didn’t sign a new defender this month. The former FC Porto player is now counting down the days until he can play again for the Royal white outfit.
