Kobbie Mainoo, an English professional football player, is now Manchester United’s star midfield player in the Premier League.
He joined the group in May of 2022. He made his first competitive start for Manchester United on November 26, 2023, when the club won the Premier League 3–0 on the road against Everton. Mainoo has also represented England at the under-17, under-18, and under-19 levels.
Kobbie Mainoo was born in Stockport, England, on April 19, 2005. His full name is Kobbie Boateng Mainoo. He is British by nationality and has mixed ancestry. He celebrated turning eighteen in 2023.
His parents, Fepx Mainoo and Abena Herold, were present when he signed his first professional contract with Manchester United, and they have always encouraged him to pursue his athletic goals. However, his mother Abena Herold’s previous marriage came to an end when she married Rob Herold on September 29, 2018. Rob Herold is the project manager for RNH Management Services Ltd.
Efia Mainoo and Ama shared a childhood. Efia finished her undergraduate studies in biochemistry at the University of Birmingham in 2018, while Ama studied sports business management at Leeds Beckett University and graduated in 2019.
Before signing with Manchester United at the age of nine, Mainoo started his junior career at Cheadle & Gatley Junior Football Club. Greater Manchester’s Stockport is where he was raised.
In May 2022, Kobbie Mainoo inked a professional contract with Manchester United. His performance in the EFL Trophy encounter against Carpsle United, where he played well in midfield, earned him a call-up to the senior squad for training in October 2022.
On October 16, 2022, despite his impressive progress, he was benched for the first time in preparation for a Premier League match against Newcastle United. Mainoo started his first competitive match on January 10, 2023, in EFL Cup victory over Charlton Athletic by a score of 3-0. He made his league debut two days later, on February 19, subbing during a 3-0 victory over Leicester City.
Following that, Mainoo traveled to the United States with Manchester United for their 2023–24 preseason tour. Unfortunately, at the start of the following season, an injury kept him out of action. Mainoo marked his injury return on November 26, 2023, by beginning a competitive game for Manchester United and assisting the club in a 3-0 Premier League victory over Everton. Mainoo has competed internationally for England’s under-17, under-18, and under-19 teams. In addition, he is qualified to represent Ghana.
