After Dani Carvajal suffered a season-ending injury, there has been much discussion regarding Real Madrid perhaps shopping for a new right-back in January.
Florentino Perez, the club president, reportedly isn’t totally sold on the idea and is only aiming to bring in reinforcements in the summer.
The top goal is to find a new right-back, and Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool, whose contract is up in the summer, is the main target.
Real Madrid is preparing backup plans, though, in case their pursuit of the England international proves fruitless.
On the schedule is Jeremie Frimpong
In light of this, journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that Real Madrid is keeping an eye on Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen as a potential summer 2025 acquisition.

Frimpong has become a key cog in Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen team and was an integral player as they won the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal last season.
The 22-year-old has started the new season on a positive note as well, racking up a goal and five assists from ten appearances across all competitions.
Frimpong’s name has been associated with Real Madrid previously as well and heading into 2025, the Dutchman once again appears to be on the agenda.
The former Manchester City starlet has a contract with Leverkusen that runs until the summer of 2028 but it contains a release clause of around €40 million which clubs can trigger to sign him.
As things stand, there is no chance of Frimpong leaving Leverkusen during the January transfer window. However, the situation could change come summer and Real Madrid are among the clubs keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old.
