It was found out that JOAO FELIX’s wages are shockingly low, but Barcelona plans to give him a huge pay raise.
The forward left Atletico Madrid on deadline day and signed a season-long deal with Barcelona.
Since then, he’s played eight times in all games scored three goals, and set up three others.
Reports in Spain, on the other hand, say that Felix has been paid very little while he has been in Barcelona.
News station Catalunya Radio says that the 23-year-old would only get €400,000 (£345,000) a year as part of the deal.
That’s the same as £6,635 a week.
Teammate Frenkie de Jong, on the other hand, is said to make £620,000k every week.
Some say Felix had to agree to the terms in order for the deal to go through because Barcelona is very tight on money.
Over the last year, the Catalans have been selling off assets and parts of their future TV rights income to pay off what is said to be a £1BILLION debt.
Felix’s deal also included a clause that said his pay would go up whenever Barcelona’s finances allowed it.
Now it’s said that he’s going to get a 900% raise.
According to the story, Felix will now get €4 million (£3.45 million) a year for the rest of his stay.
He is now making £66,345 a week, which is a lot more than what he was making at Atletico.
Also, everyone knows that the change in his pay won’t have any effect on Barcelona’s Financial Fair Play.
Felix is only on loan until the end of the season. His real deal with Atletico doesn’t end until 2029.
Before he signed with Barcelona, the Portugal star was linked with a move back to the Premier League.
Several teams were said to want to sign Felix after he spent the second half of last season with Chelsea.
It is said that Manchester United turned down the chance to sign him in the summer.
