Even though most transfer windows are closed, Jurgen Klopp may lose another Liverpool midfielder as Thiago Alcantara has reportedly attracted attention from Trabzonspor.

In the summer, Liverpool finished a much-needed midfield makeover. They started the process by allowing Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner to go on free transfers once their contracts expired.

By signing Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig and Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, Liverpool revitalized their midfield. However, after leaving for Saudi Arabia, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left the Reds weak in the defensive midfield position.

Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch were acquired by Klopp’s team after Chelsea won both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

On Friday, September 1, the summer transfer window closed for English clubs. And on Thursday, September 7, the Saudi window closed, much to the relief of many Premier League managers.

Liverpool, though, is not yet out of the woods. Till this Friday, the Turkish transfer window is still open, and Thiago may now be going there.

Trabzonspor ‘hit the button’ by making a bold play for Thiago, claims Turkish tabloid Aksam.

This summer, Trabzonspor has already finalized the acquisition of Nicolas Pepe from Arsenal. Trabzonspor finished sixth in the Turkish Super Lig last season. And now they want him to play at the Papara Park stadium beside Thiago.

The Liverpool player wants to move on.

The likelihood that the 32-year-old will advocate for the change is high. The report claims Thiago wants to join a club ‘where he can start’ as he knows this is unlikely at Liverpool, with Klopp now able to use his four new arrivals.

The financial weakness of Trabzonspor is one potential obstacle. They are hoping Liverpool will void his contract a year early because they lack the resources to pay Liverpool a big sum of money for their player. They will be able to sign Thiago for nothing, just like they did with Pepe, thanks to this.

The elegant Spain international already has a contract proposal from Trabzonspor. They are willing to pay him a handsome signing-on fee, as well.

It is likely the decision will mainly come down to Klopp. Of course, he has four new midfielders in his squad, though he also needs sufficient backup for them.

Should Klopp decide that Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic provide him with enough protection against a potential midfield injury crisis, then he will allow Thiago to leave.
