Prior of Sunday’s crucial Premier League matchup between Liverpool and Arsenal, Mohamed Salah has given the Reds a significant lift.
After watching his teammates go to the round of sixteen at the Africa Cup of Nations, Salah sustained a hamstring injury during Egypt’s second game and went back to Merseyside for treatment.
Although neither the national team nor the club set a deadline for his comeback, it soon became apparent that the attacker would be sidelined for longer than anticipated.
Salah’s chances of competing again in the AFCON were eliminated when Egypt was eliminated in the last-16, and now it appears like everything could not have gone more smoothly for Liverpool.
Salah posted two videos of himself sprinting the length of one of the training fields at Liverpool’s training facility on his Instagram Story on Thursday.
The team posted a picture of him jogging on Wednesday while sporting running sneakers, but the next day he was back in football boots, indicating that a comeback to action might not be too far off.
Salah is clearly improving, but his trip to London on Sunday to play Arsenal may come too soon for him.
The 31-year-old was ruled out of Wednesday’s 4-1 victory against Chelsea by manager Jurgen Klopp, and he was also unable to travel to the Emirates Stadium before to the match.
Other than his desire to get fit as soon as possible, he wasn’t under any pressure. We take our time. Thiago wouldn’t be out for ten months if you could speed up the mending process, the Liverpool manager said reporters.
“Mo isn’t prepared. I’m out of this game and out of the next one. Though he’s not available right now, it could have been worse.”
Liverpool would go eight points ahead of the Gunners with a victory at the Emirates Stadium, dealing the team a deadly blow to their title chances.
Salah might play against Burnley on February 10 unless he makes an unexpected appearance on Sunday.
