Yesterday, Real Madrid lost to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final. Tomorrow, they will be looking to get even. The Catalans beat them pretty badly last year in the final of the same tournament, 1-3.
They also beat Barcelona 0–4 a few months later. Tomorrow, they have a chance to win their first prize of the season and undo their performance from last season at the same time.
In the semi-finals against Atletico Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti’s team almost lost because Eduardo Camavinga, Daniel Carvajal, and Federico Valverde got hurt. In the end, Atletico Madrid won 5–3 in an eight-goal battle.
This is how Madrid Universal thinks the 14-time Champions League winners will line up for El Clasico tomorrow, with most of the team healthy and ready to play.
Defense: Mendy keeps going after the goal
Kepa made a mistake in the semi-final that led to Atletico’s third goal of the night, which did not make Real Madrid fans happy. While stories have said many times that the Spaniard will stay in goal, this is now official.
The back line will also stay the same, especially after a great game in which three of the four goals were scored.
Daniel Carvajal was named the game’s most valuable player because he scored one goal and set up two others. There are some questions about the Spaniard’s health because he practiced alone after the game, but he should keep his spot as right back.
Since Eder Militao and David Alaba tore their ACLs, Antonio Rudiger and Nacho will stay as the center-back pair. The second player probably won’t be back this season, but the first player might be able to play in the last few games if his rehab goes as planned.
At left back for Madrid, Eduardo Camavinga was one of the best players, and he is in the running to start there, especially against Lamine Yamal. But now is when Ancelotti will try to give Mendy some consistency after he scored a goal in the semifinals.
Kroos beats Modric in the midfield
Toni Kroos will likely replace Luka Modric in the middle of the field, which is the only change that will likely be made to the starting group from the semifinal.
The Croat played well against Atleti, but Ancelotti will need Kroos’ calmness and insight to beat a great Barcelona center that will try to take control of the game.
Federico Valverde walked off during extra time, but he is still allowed to play by doctors. He will start in the middle of the field with Aurelien Tchouameni.
Jude is in charge of the attack.
Jude Bellingham’s spot has been up for grabs for a while now, but it’s safe to say that he’s been playing mostly as a false 9 for Madrid. He will keep playing that part tomorrow and hopes to repeat his antics against Barcelona in the league game.
Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo are likely to help Bellingham up top. Rodrygo will play on the right wing, and Vinicius Jr. will play on the left.
