After a rough start at Real Madrid, KYLIAN MBAPPE has been taken off the France team.
That month, the 25-year-old French leader missed the internationals because of an injury, but manager Didier Deschamps said it was just a “one-off” choice that had nothing to do with fitness.
Mbappe has had a hard time adjusting to life in Madrid since his dream move for free in the summer.
The player, who used to play for Paris Saint-Germain, has scored eight goals in all competitions for the Spanish giants, but he hasn’t scored in big games like the 4-0 loss to rivals Barcelona and the midweek loss to AC Milan.
Deschamps talked to Mbappe, who told the boss that he wanted to play against Israel and Italy with the team.
But the France manager said, “I’ve talked to him about it, and I made this decision just for this set of games.”
“It is my job to decide what to do.” That way seems better to me.
“I’m not going to counter.”
“These are the two things I can tell you. One was Kylian’s wish to come.
“And two, the extra sporting issues don’t matter because everyone is presumed innocent, which must be the case. It’s a one-time choice for this event.
Reports in Swedish media last month that linked Mbappe to a rape investigation in Sweden were called “fake news” by the player.
The BBC says that his lawyers said he was “stunned” by the reports and that they were getting ready to sue for defamation.
Mbappe is likely to play for Real Madrid on Saturday when they host Osasuna in La Liga.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team will play Leganes as soon as they get back from the international break. Then they will fly to England to play Liverpool in the Champions League.
With one game to play, they are nine points behind Barcelona in La Liga.
They have won two games and lost two in Europe. With four games left, they are 18th out of 36 teams in the league phase of the Champions League.
