Kylian Mbappe scored in his first Champions League game for Real Madrid, which sparked his quest to win a European title again.
Right at the start of the second half, Rodrygo sent a cross that Mbappe scored on. This helped Madrid beat Stuttgart 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Mbappe said, “It was a great night.” “It was a tough game, but it was important to get off to a good start at home in the Champions League.”
Mbappe celebrated by making a move that looked like he was blowing out lights and kissing the ball. The Spanish news said it was to celebrate the 50th birthday of his mother.
Madrid took a 1-0 lead after the goal, but Stuttgart tied it up with a goal from Deniz Undav in the 68th minute. Antonio Rudiger put Madrid back ahead in the 83rd minute, and Endrick, a replacement, scored late in extra time to seal the win for the defending champions.
It was Mbappe’s 49th Champions League goal, which puts him in the top 10 of all-time League goals.
He has scored in three straight games and five goals in seven games across all divisions for Real Madrid.
Mbappe said, “I can do more.” “Each match makes me feel better.”
Thibaut Courtois, the custodian for Madrid, was named the game’s best player because he kept Stuttgart from scoring one of their many chances.
Before he scored, Mbappe had mostly been quiet. His best chance came in the 25th minute when he got into the box and his low shot was saved. A few minutes later, he was free inside the box, but a defender blocked Federico Valverde’s low cross to the France star.
Madrid had a hard time making many good chances to score early on at the Bernabeu. Stuttgart was the team that posed the most danger, with a couple of one-on-one chances and a shot that hit the goal.
Even Vinicius Junior missed the goal for Madrid.
France’s Mbappe won the World Cup in 2018, but in seven years with Paris Saint-Germain, which was also trying to win its first Champions League title, the team failed to do so.
The playmaker left PSG as a free agent at the end of last season to join Madrid, after the Spanish giants had been chasing him for ten years. The move could improve his chances of winning the European title with Madrid, who have won the Champions League six times in the last eleven years.
In 2017, Mbappe led Monaco to the semi-finals of the club tournament. In 2020, he led PSG to the finals but lost. He also made it to the playoffs with PSG in 2021 and again this year.
