Leny Yoro, who joined Manchester United this summer, sent a message to his friends after having surgery on his left foot.

The 18-year-old moved from Lille to Old Trafford for £52 million on July 18. He played his first game for Manchester United in a 2-0 win over Rangers the next day.

Yoro’s United career took a big hit the next week, though, when he hurt his foot just 30 minutes into the USA game against Arsenal and lost 2-1.

It turned out that Yoro would need surgery in the end.

On Monday, surgery was done on Yoro’s left foot. United said in a statement that the operation went well, but that the defender would not be fully recovered for three months.

After that, Yoro made his own comment on social media.

‘This is not the start I wanted, but that’s football,’ he wrote. The surgery went well. Thank you for all of your kind words. 

“Now it’s time to be patient and do some rehab work.” I’ll see you soon, stronger.

Yoro shared a picture of himself from a hotel bed giving the thumbs up along with this message.

He also posted a picture with a Bible verse on it that said, “Jesus answered, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but later you will.”

United’s first game of the 2024–25 season will be on Sunday, when they play Manchester City in the Community Shield.

United is also missing Yoro and isn’t sure if Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof are healthy enough to play centre back.
