The end of the season was celebrated by Lionel Messi and Inter Miami with a team dinner. They will now take some time off to enjoy the downtime.
A picture on Instagram showed Miami’s players standing together around a big cake that looked like The Herons. The cake was at Casadonna, a new Italian restaurant and bar in South Florida.
Along with Messi, the picture showed Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Josef Martinez, Leonardo Campana, and Benjamin Cremaschi, all of whom are well-known players on the team.
Inter Miami won the Leagues Cup, which was the team’s first prize ever, but they didn’t make it to the playoffs this season. With just 34 points and a 9-7-18 record, they came in 14th in the MLS Eastern Conference.
The team’s boss, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, just recently said that preseason will start on January 10.
The team’s trip to China was recently called off.
As of right now, Messi’s old team, Newell’s Old Boys, will be Miami’s most famous friendly during the upcoming preseason.
During his playing days, Martino also played for the Argentine club, and after that, he worked as a boss for Newell’s.
Martinez may have used the party as a way to say goodbye.
Martino recently stated that the striker will not be back with the team next year. This has led to rumors that Luis Suarez is going to join.
