Barcelona star Lionel Messi has joined up with his Argentina teammates to get ready for their upcoming World Cup matches against Venezuela and Ecuador.
Lionel Messi was seen carrying a £7,000 outfit when he arrived for international service. He is taking a break from his problems with Inter Miami.
Good things have been happening for the forward from Rosario for his country over the last year. He finally won the Copa America last summer and helped the Albiceleste make it to the World Cup with two games to spare. He is still in Lionel Scaloni’s squad for the upcoming qualifying doubleheader, though, and was in a good mood when he went on international service.
But it wasn’t just Messi’s smile that caught the eye. Many fans talked about the Argentine’s sweatshirt; in fact, so many people did, that Marca took the time to price out his whole outfit.
The unique jacket from DSquared2 is said to be worth €445 (£371). The jeans are £492 and the shoes are £542. That being said, the outfit becomes much more valuable when you look at his bags.
The backpack that Messi wears is by Louis Vuitton and costs a huge £2,417. If you want to buy one for yourself, the suitcase from the same designer line costs £3,250. For those who are keeping track, that’s just over seven grand altogether.
Argentina, led by Messi, has already made it to the World Cup.
Argentina manager Scaloni put together a preliminary 44-man team for the upcoming qualifiers. Emi Martinez, Emi Buendia, and Cristian Romero, all of whom play in the Premier League, were named to the initial group but will not be able to play because they are suspended. Messi does have some Premier League competition, though. Manuel Lanzini of West Ham, Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton, and young Manchester United player Alejandro Garnacho have all been called up, as well as Julian Alvarez, who was just signed by Manchester City.
Before Messi left for South America, Xavi, who is now the boss of Barcelona and used to play with Messi, said that the door would always be open for him to come back to Camp Nou. The 42-year-old said, “As long as I’m the coach here, he can come every day to watch practice or talk to me. What he’s given us is really valuable.”
