For the time being, Lionel Messi is only thinking about Inter Miami’s upcoming season finale against Charlotte FC.

The Argentine soccer star said he wanted to spend the holidays with his family because he missed the MLS Playoffs with Inter Miami. There were rumors going around that Messi might be going to the Saudi Pro League this winter or even thinking about going back to his old team, Barcelona.

At the moment, though, the only club game he’s thinking about is Miami’s game against Charlotte on Saturday.”It’s a shame [Miami did not make the playoffs],” said Messi. “We were almost there. I didn’t see the last few games. We got hurt a few times. July was a tough month for us. Every three days, we played, and we went on trips. We did win an event, which is big for the club and for next year.

The next game is this Saturday against Charlotte FC, and I will train and play. I will also try to get to the national team in the best way possible for November. I’ll spend the rest of the time off in Argentina after that. With the holidays, peace of mind, and time with my people, I’ll have more days off in December than I have ever had before. I will come back again in January to do training.

Messi is supposedly going to win his eighth Ballon d’Or later this month as the World Player of the Year. However, he is not likely to play on Wednesday night because he is coming back from international duty.

Gerardo “Tata” Martino, the head coach of Inter Miami, will decide if Messi will play on Saturday. “We will evaluate not only Leo, but all players who are with their national teams when they return Thursday, as we are out of the playoffs, and we don’t want to run any risks,” he stated.

Charlotte is about to make history by becoming the first team in MLS history to make it to the playoffs. In order to do this, they need to beat Miami twice this week. If they do that, they’ll come in eighth in the Eastern Conference. Without two wins, the team’s chances of making the playoffs will be low, and it will rely on other teams to help it get there in its first season in the league.

Since four weeks ago, Messi has been hurt and has either been out for four weeks or used as a replacement because of what has been called a muscle problem and fatigue. Even though he was tired, he started for Argentina in their 2-0 win over Peru on Tuesday night and scored both goals.
