Lionel Messi believes that Inter Miami should attempt to sign Luka Modric during the upcoming transfer window. 

At Real Madrid, Modric has slipped down the lineup, with Carlo Ancelotti starting him on the bench for four of the team’s six La Liga games this year.

The 38-year-old midfielder has committed to put in a lot of effort to regain his spot in the starting lineup, but considering the depth of the club, opportunities are hard to come by.

Messi thinks it would be advantageous for both parties if Inter Miami bought Modric in the January transfer window. 

According to Pedja Mijatovic, a former Real Madrid forward, Messi believes Modric would fit in well in the league.

Messi has consequently spoken with Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham about a potential transfer swoop. 

“He [Modric] has received offers from the United States, from many teams, and from this one in particular,” Mijatovic stated in a statement to Cadena SER.

He [Modric] already had the one in Saudi Arabia, but he preferred to remain in Madrid, Mijatovic continued. 

Messi has expressed interest in the prospect for himself. A few days ago, Beckham and Modric met while dining in Croatia.

Given his limited playing time at Real Madrid this year, Modric might find a move to Inter Miami tempting.

Young players with talent abound at Real Madrid, including Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr., Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Vinicius Jr.

Following his high-profile transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, the latter has integrated perfectly into the Spanish club.

Given the youth at his position and the intense battle for spots, Modric is dropping farther down the pecking order under Ancelotti.

Modric, though, stated that he was ready to remain at the club and compete for a position in an interview with the Croatian publication Sportske Novosti.  

Nobody is content when they don’t play, HE claimed. It’s a particularly unusual feeling for me given my work. However, the coach made that decision for his own reasons.

“My only requirement for staying was to be treated as a competitive player rather than being retained in the squad based on previous accomplishments,” said the athlete.

“I’m totally at ease. I am aware that I must put in a lot of effort before everything will come together.

Modric continued by talking about the rivalry he experienced at Real Madrid. These young players are elite athletes, which is why Real signed them, he claimed.

‘We veterans must help them progress and gradually take over the starting roles at the level that this club is looking for.’
