The captain of Liverpool is getting ready to travel to Germany next month to represent the Netherlands.

He’s enjoying a spectator sport in the meanwhile, one of his other interests.

At this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, ESPN FC posted pictures of the 32-year-old interacting with Max Verstappen on their X profile.

The principality hosted the meeting of two of the most well-known Dutch athletes.

Three-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has acknowledged that he is a Manchester United fan.

But even with their different loyalties, he and Van Dijk are still good friends.

Liverpool supporters could want for Verstappen’s level of dominance in the Premier League, given his dominance in the Formula One circuit.

Verstappen believes his Red Bull squad will face tough obstacles at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.

Even though he won in Monaco the previous year, he mentioned Ferrari and McLaren as strong competitors to watch.

“Looking at the track layout, it’s probably not going to be our best track, just because our car normally struggles a bit over bumps and kerbs,” Verstappen stated, as reported by the BBC.

“Compared to previous year, we did work on it a little bit. Our low-speed performance has slightly improved on the most of the courses we have seen thus far, but this is not going to be an easy weekend.

Even though Imola was perhaps not our easiest weekend, he continued, “it was quite clear going into Imola that [the gap between teams] had all closed up a bit after Miami.”

“That’s definitely how Monaco is always like that.”
