Liverpool Star Virgil van Dijk’s Striking Modelling Debut in Vogue

Vogue Scandinavia’s most recent issue had a 10-page spread featuring Virgil van Dijk, who made his debut in editorial modelling.

The photo session is accompanied with a feature on Rains creators Philip Lotko and Daniel Brix Hesselager, in which the captain of Liverpool is shown wearing the finest outerwear from the Danish brand. Since Van Dijk was a close friend of the founders and served as their inspiration, he was an obvious candidate for the editorial.

Even though the picture shoot started off casually—a friend asking another friend for a favor—the images catapult van Dijk into the elite category of models. Captured at his domicile, the Dutchman vividly brings the newest Rains collection to life through a selection of well-chosen close-ups.

Players have started entering photographic setups lately and seems to have no trouble at all. Son Heung-min has been starring in advertisements and billboards for a time now, including those for Calvin Klein and Burberry. Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 campaign features Bukayo Saka.

Considering that van Dijk appears in the glossy pages of Vogue, the runway might come next. Your fave celebrities will soon be featured on every designer’s moodboard.
