Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace has been heavily linked to Liverpool this summer, but there is some bad news.

The Reds want a new person in the middle of their stadium. Before the window closes tomorrow night, they want a new addition, but if Daily Mail columnist Lewis Steele is to be believed, it won’t be Doucoure.

Liverpool will not allow Cheick Doucoure to sign with them.

Liverpool had one objective going into the summer transfer window: to improve their midfield.

Alexis MacAllister from Brighton & Hove Albion and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig gave the Reds a solid start to the season.

In order to seal the deal, Jurgen Klopp had planned to sign Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia to fill the number six role, but neither player seemed interested in joining him at Anfield. Wataru Endo has intervened as a temporary fix.

For a few weeks, Cheick Doucoure has been linked to a transfer to Liverpool, but according to Steele, the deal is through because Crystal Palace is asking for far too much money.

The’very complete’ midfielder is reportedly being sought after by the Eagles for almost £70 million.

Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace had caught Liverpool’s attention, but Steele said in his Q&A that “that ship has probably sailed now due to financial reasons.”
