Rodri, a star player for Manchester City, was seen enjoying his Ballon d’Or win at a restaurant on Monday night.
The Spanish midfielder won the award but will miss the rest of the season because of two knee injuries. He is the first Premier League player to win it since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008.
Rodri, who is 28 years old, helped City win their fourth straight league title this year and was an important part of Spain’s team that won the European Championship. Rodri has only lost one club game in the last 18 months.
There was trouble that night when Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. refused to go to the event because he felt snubbed, but that didn’t make Rodri feel down.
A video of the 28-year-old wildly enjoying his win in a restaurant quickly went viral on social media after he won the award.
The video, which was shared on Man City’s X account, showed Rodri and Ruben Dias singing “Rodri’s on fire!” in a restaurant.
A whole table of people joined the City duo as they belted out a loud version of the song while throwing their napkins in the air.
Rodri and his friends kept singing and waving napkins above their heads all night as they celebrated Spain’s win.
The clearly emotional player said, “Incredible night for me today” on Monday night, as he took in all the praise. I’d like to speak in my country’s language if you don’t mind.
He also said in Spanish, “I’ve always said that one of my most important traits is that I work to get better every day.”
But fans believe Rodri is mocking Vini for his ‘disrespectful’ way of celebrating!
