A goal scored by Manchester United against Fulham was called back for no reason, which confused Harry Maguire.
Last night, Bruno Fernandes scored at the very end to give the Red Devils a 1-0 win over the Cottagers. But United thought they were ahead when Scott McTominay scored from close range in the first half.
The goal was called by the referee, but after a long VAR review, it was ruled out.
Maguire was out of position before the play began, and even though he didn’t touch the ball, he was still considered to have been involved when he tried to kick it.
Referee John Brooks was called to the monitor on the field to look over the call. He decided that the center-back was blocking the play. Maguire insisted he was innocent while the referee looked at the screen.
His yelling, “I wasn’t even involved ref,” was caught on video by a Fulham fan.
“Hey, I wasn’t even involved.
The goal was ruled out, which made fans very angry. One fan said, “There is a clear agenda against Man Utd.”They also said, “The refs are a disgrace.”
Some people praised Maguire for showing how passionate he was, and one fan said, “Give him the captain’s armband.”
A fourth person wrote, “Maguire is a whole vibe.”
This was VAR’s first difficult call of the day. Later, they let Newcastle score the winning goal against Arsenal, even though there was a lot of disagreement about whether the ball went out or there was a foul in the buildup.
