The defeat follows a weekend defeat against Tottenham of Erik ten Hag’s team by a score of 2-0.

He will be hoping that his team makes a comeback against Nottingham Forest at home on Saturday.

Evans and five other first-team players reportedly started the loss against recently promoted Burnley.

According to reports, Anthony Martial, Facundo Pellistri, Scott McTominay, Hannibal Mejbri, and Donny van de Beek all got things going.

United fans have been left concerned by the result, with one tweeting: “It’s over, end the season now.”

Another added: “We are finished.”

A third supporter also commented: “It’s gonna be a long season man.”

Evans, a Premier League champion, joined the Red Devils once more this summer on a temporary basis.

It is thought that he is close to signing a longer contract with the squad after accompanying them on their preseason tour of the United States.

But he isn’t in their first two matchday lineups because he hasn’t signed up for the current season yet.

The young players Pellistri, who is close to joining Sheffield United, and Hannibal are also expected to leave this summer.

Before the transfer window closes, United is still accepting offers for Martial and McTominay.
