Manchester United paid £72 million for Rasmus Hojlund. He got used to his new home on Tuesday night when he went into the city with his girlfriend.
His move to Old Trafford was finalised last week, after a lot of talks with his old team, Atalanta. But it has been revealed that the Danish striker has a back problem that will limit his game time at the start of the season.
The MRI scan he had as part of his care showed a stress response area in his back. The young player has a stress fracture, so he won’t be able to play in United’s first two games, which are against Wolves and Tottenham.
However, the 20-year-old wanted to forget about the bad news while he and his partner Laura Sondergaard checked out the scene in Manchester.
In a white jacket, blue pants, and white sneakers, Hojlund walked from the Lowry Hotel into the city center.
Sondergaard walked next to Hojlund while wearing a leather jacket over a white sweater and pants. She smiled at him as she did so.
The Danish player then waved at the camera when he saw them and went on with his night out.
Sondergaard, Hojlund’s partner, is known to cheer him on at many of his games. Even kissed after he scored three goals for Denmark against Finland in March.
There are almost 9,000 people who follow Sondergaard on Instagram, and she often posts pictures of her lovely travelers.
As Hojlund tries to make a name for himself at Old Trafford, he will hope that his back problem doesn’t keep him out of too many United games.
They are sure that Hojlund’s back isn’t badly hurt because he went through a lot of tests during his medical. All he needs is some rest.
The first thing the club did after Hojlund’s MRI last week was to give him more time to get fit and reassure him that he is a long-term deal and will not be rushed into the team.
Outside of the club, Mail Sport talked to doctors who said that these kinds of accidents need to be carefully taken care of. Also, they said Hojlund probably won’t be able to play two games a week for a while because he could get a stress fracture that would take a long time to heal from.
When he played his first game with FC Copenhagen’s first team, he was 17 years old. In January 2022, he was sold to Sturm Graz in Austria. In August 2022, he was bought by Atalanta for £15 million.
The next year, United paid almost five times that amount, even though Chelsea, PSG, Juventus, and Inter Milan were also interested. Even though they found out about the back problem during the medical, they still chose to sign.
Ten Hag wants to build a new attack around Hojlund because he can score goals. There is a chance to add one more year to his five-year deal with United.
