MANCHESTER UNITED lost another bad game at Old Trafford because they made too many mistakes.
There are too many of them.
They were careless and lost 3-2 at home, which was their second loss in Group A. They threw away two leads.
Rasmus Hojlund scored twice for the Red Devils, in the 17th and 67th minutes. It should have been a night to talk about him.
Wilfried Zaha, a former Red, scored a goal back in the 23rd minute.
United lost their minds in the last 20 minutes, though, with Andre Onana all over the place.
Kerem Arturkoglu scored an equalizer in the 71st minute.
Then Mauro Icardi scored the game-winning goal in the 81st minute, after missing a penalty earlier.
That’s a mess.
When they took the lead for the second time, they made careless plays, had bad goalkeeping, and had no control at all.
At the age of 11, Galatasaray had never won in England. This was their first away win in any competition, besides a playoff, in ten years.
United got off to a good start and took the lead with a great move and finish.
Casemiro put a bouncy ball in his own path, turned, and sent a great volleyed pass forward from deep in his own half.
It bounced off the ground at Old Trafford, but Marcus Rashford expertly headed it forward and looped a cross into the area, where Hojlund scored.
Good job, United. Could they now make a lead?
Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy around here these days.
Nerves can quickly take the place of confidence at a field that was turned into a haven last season and was where they only lost twice.
They’ve already lost one game here this season.
There is always an accident just waiting to happen, and this time it was Diogo Dalot who made it happen first for the people who came to see it.
The ball was sent forward by former Spurs center-back Davinson Sanchez, and Dalot was in a panic.
He looked like he was trying to steer a balloon as the ball bounced around him and Zaha was able to touch it.
He hit the goal with a volley that went over Andre Onana, but it wasn’t the cleanest shot.
It was love at first sight for the loud away fans who had been shouting nonstop from the start.
It was a moment for Zaha.
It was always his dream to score at The Stretford End in the Champions League, but after moving to Old Trafford ten years ago, he only got four chances to do so.
Fans of Manchester United were happy to remind him of that, and he smiled and cupped his ears to the crowd after scoring.
During the break, Ten Hag made a change by trading Hannibal for Christian Eriksen to help Casemiro with the piece.
He thought of something right away that gave the Red Devils a great chance to take the lead again.
When he turned on halfway, he sent Rashford flying through on goal.
This slowed him down so Fernandes could catch up and get a square ball, but it also gave Boey time to get back and steal the ball.
Ten Hag was upset that his team wasn’t more dangerous when chances came up after the loss to Crystal Palace.
This is another case of making the wrong choice.
An assistant referee raised his flag because Hojlund thought he had a second just before the hour mark, but the video showed that he was wrong. The Danish forward was just offside when Mount found him.
When a great scorer gets down, they just get back up, and Hojlund did the same all night. He was always on the lookout for chances.
Sanchez missed Sergio Oliveira’s loose pass, but Hojlund picked it up and ran half the length of the field.
As hard as Abdulkerim Bardaki tried, he couldn’t catch the 20-year-old who flicked the ball over Fernando Muslera, who was coming up behind him.
They were ahead for four minutes before United turned off again.
For some reason, Mauro Icardi was quicker to the ball than Eriksen. He set up Baris Alper Yilmaz, who easily got past Amrabat and sent a cross for Akturkoglu to score.
Then Galatasaray had a chance in the 78th minute.
Onana threw a bad pass out of his area, and Dries Mertens picked it off. Casemiro then did a great job of bringing him down for the team.
He got his third red card since joining United at the beginning of last season. It was his second yellow card.
It was Mauro Icardi’s turn to play. He wanted to make up for the embarrassing mistake he made the week before when he missed a clear goal after a penalty kick was touched off to him against Istanbulspor.
He missed again, but this time he fired straight from the spot and wide of the left post.
Icardi made up for it in just three minutes.
Sanchez strong-kneaded Amrabat’s loose ball forward and into the path of Icardi, who ran off and chipped the ball over Onana as he fell to the ground.
The final whistle was met with the now-familiar sound of boos.
