Man Utd fans call Sofyan Amrabat ‘fish out of water’ after Erik ten Hag’s tactical gamble fails in loss to Crystal Palace

Following Manchester United’s loss to Crystal Palace, SOFYAN AMRABAT received criticism for being a “fish out of water.”

On the day of the transfer deadline, the Moroccan agreed to a loan with the Red Devils.

In Man Utd’s midweek League Cup match against Crystal Palace, which United won 3-0, he made his entire debut at left-back.

When United played the Eagles in a Premier League match today, the story was different.

Joachim Andersen’s first-half goal gave Roy Hodgson’s team a smash-and-grab 1-0 victory, frustrating United in the process.

Chris Sutton, a former Blackburn striker, singled out Amrabat for criticism on BBC 5 Live for a subpar play in the second half.

He said: “A goalie would be proud of that. He gave away a free kick while being forced back toward his own goal by (Jordan) Ayew.

He appeared uncomfortable playing as the left back today, like a fish out of water.

This decision was supported by internet supporters, one of whom commented: “I know we’re short of LBs as well, but surely Lindelof at RB and Dalot at LB is a better alternative than placing Amrabat there?

Another said, “We can’t keep using Amrabat as an LB.”

A third remarked: “Playing Dalot as the LB and Lindelof as the RB is actually preferable. Amrabat being wasted there is terrible. In the midst of an injury crisis that has left United with just one full-back, Amrabat has been forced into the position.Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Sergio Reguilon, United’s natural left-backs, are all out injured, and Diogo Dalot is the sole available right-back due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s injury.ImageTen Hag’s injury difficulties were made worse by Lisandro Martinez when it was discovered he could require more surgery for a fractured metatarsal.Martinez could fill the void at left-back, but Amrabat has had to fill it because of his injury.United will play Brentford in their upcoming Premier League match after having the worst possible start to a season.ImagePrior to that, they have a crucial Champions League group stage match against Galatasaray.
