Fans of Manchester United loved how Ruud van Nistelrooy reacted when Marcus Rashford scored against Southampton.
Rashford scored his first Premier League goal of the season against Southampton. He is 26 years old.
The forward put the ball on his right foot and bent a shot into the far corner, past Aaron Ramsdale, the Saints custodian, who was outstretched.
It was his first goal in the league since March 9 against Everton, which is 189 days ago. It was also his first goal in any tournament since March 17 in the FA Cup against Liverpool.
According to SunSport, Rashford was working out with Van Nistelrooy more often to try to score his first goal in a while.
And Van Nistelrooy was seen celebrating his goal against Southampton by raising his arms in the air.
A lot of fans loved what they saw from St. Mary’s stadium and quickly took to social media to share their feelings.
As one fan put it, “Van Nistelrooy, who is a legend at United, clearly sees a kindred spirit in Rashford.” His response says a lot about how talented and promising he thinks the young Englishman is.
“Happy for Rashford, RVN making a difference,” said a second.
Someone else said, “He looked so proud of him.”
A fourth person said, “He was every Marcus Rashford fan.”
Matthijs de Ligt scored the first goal with a header just minutes before Rashford’s goal. De Ligt’s goal came just moments after Andre Onana miraculously saved a penalty from Cameron Archer.
