Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen on signing FC Porto star Samu Omorodion in the January transfer window.

Amorim experienced his first loss as United manager on Wednesday, as Arsenal capitalized on set pieces to defeat the Red Devils at the Emirates. Despite a solid defensive performance, United struggled to create chances and failed to test Arsenal’s defense effectively. This situation highlights the need for Amorim to strengthen his attacking options in January to compete with teams like Arsenal.

Reports suggest that Amorim has communicated his desire to attack reinforcements to the United board. According to a Football365 report relayed from Spain, Amorim has made it clear that signing Omorodion is a top priority for the upcoming transfer window.

The striker, who joined Porto from Atletico Madrid this summer, has immediately scored 13 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions, including a brace against United in the Europa League. Chelsea had also shown interest in him during the summer but ultimately could not secure his transfer, allowing Porto to benefit.

Given his strong start, Porto may struggle to keep him if United pursues him seriously. Amorim has been monitoring Omorodion’s progress since his early days in Spain and his breakout performance in Portugal, and he has specifically requested the club sign the 20-year-old.

The United board appears to support this move and is reportedly prepared to make a significant financial commitment, with discussions around a potential offer of about 60 million euros, which could persuade Porto to part with their star player.

Additionally, Omorodion, having previously missed a chance to move to the Premier League, is believed to be interested in joining one of the world’s biggest clubs.
