Manchester United has lost another player to injury during the international break. On Tuesday night, Manuel Ugarte walked off for Uruguay.

Before the break-in domestic play, Noussair Mazraoui, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, and Amad Diallo were all hurt, and now the player is hurt too. Erik ten Hag is running out of time to get his team back together before their game against Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Ugarte played well against Ecuador, but there were worries when, in the 81st minute, he fell to the ground and asked for medical help. The summer signing worth £50.5 million made a face when he touched his right leg and looked unhappy as he walked off the field to be replaced soon after.

Ten Hag is still looking for Mainoo’s long-term partner in midfield, and Ugarte is the best option so far, ahead of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. If the injury keeps him out, the Uruguayan will be missed a lot.

In other United news, Garnacho was named to the Argentina team but had to pull out because of a knee problem. He said he was “playing through pain” in the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa earlier this month.

Lee Carsley only put one-star player from United in his England team for the Nations League games against Greece and Finland. That being said, he had to pull out before he could add to his collection of Three Lions caps, just like Garnacho.

After receiving treatment for a heart problem, Mazraoui will be out for a few weeks. And stories say that Ten Hag will be very short-handed at full-back while he is out because Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are not yet ready to play again.

Diallo is also a small worry since he skipped Ivory Coast duties because he was sick. How many of Ten Hag’s hurt players make it back in time for the start of the new Premier League season remains to be seen.

It couldn’t have happened at a worse time for United’s boss, who is barely holding on to his job after a rough start to the season.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and other important people at the club got together in London at the start of the international break to talk about the team’s recent performance. It looks like Ten Hag will have a chance to get things back on track during a busy stretch of seven games in just over three weeks.
