The defender hurt himself in the first half of United’s 1-0 loss at Old Trafford and had to leave the game.

Before trying to continue, Maguire received treatment on the pitch.

But his problem was too great, and Erik ten Hag had to make a quick adjustment.

As Jonny Evans replaced the England international, the audience rose to its feet in applause.

Lisandro Martinez, a defender, is one of seven United players already out with injuries.

Considering Maguire’s recent surge for the Red Devils, this injury is a disappointment.

Unwantedly, United’s chances of advancing to the Champions League quarterfinals were dashed when Maguire suffered an injury.

In order to advance from their group, Ten Hag’s squad had to defeat Bayern and cross their fingers that Copenhagen and Galatasaray would play to a draw.

But they were booted out of Europe after losing 1-0 and Copenhagen winning by the same score.
