Alejandro Garnacho, a young star for Manchester United, has been called a “clown” for something that happened during their 4-3 Champions League loss to FC Copenhagen.
Anders Rasmussen’s second goal, scored in the middle of the first half, made it 2-0 for United. The 19-year-old started the game in the Danish city.
Marcus Rashford was then given a straight red card after a VAR check, and Garnacho had to watch. At the end of the half, Copenhagen scored twice to tie the game. After the break, United took the lead again thanks to a penalty kick by Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese star smashed his kick into the top left corner.
Garnacho was seen “shushing” and pointing at the Copenhagen fans in the home end as United’s players wheeled off to celebrate.
He did something wrong because the Danish team scored twice in the last few minutes to win 4–3.
The Argentinian was interested in more than one thing, though. Copenhagen’s Denis Vavro said he tried to mess up the penalty spot before Diogo Goncalves’ penalty kick tied the game at 2-2.
In the rematch at Old Trafford, Garnacho made the same save, but that time, Copenhagen’s spot was saved by Andre Onana. The United winger’s second try made Vavro very angry, and he saved some harsh words for him.
“I saw that he tried to do something about the penalty kick, but Kevin Diks stood in front of him and blocked,” he told the Danish news site Bold.
“This is the second time.” Then back on our track? He looks like a clown to me. When he tries something like this again, he acts like a child. In a game away.
“It was one thing at home in the 97th minute, but here in the first half? What is he trying to do? I don’t get it.
