Lisandro Martinez, a defender for Manchester United, has been sidelined for a ‘extended period’ after worsening a foot ailment he suffered earlier this year.
Martinez was forced off during Man United’s crushing 3-1 defeat at Arsenal earlier this month.
During Man United’s humiliating 3-1 loss at Arsenal earlier this month, Martinez was ejected from the game.
Despite having played six games this season in all competitions, he now faces some time on the sidelines. According to a club statement, Lisandro Martinez’s foot ailment from April has gotten worse and will keep him out of play for a while.
“The setback occurred in our Premier League match against Arsenal earlier this month. The Argentine defender.
“Martinez heroically continued to play in the following two matches against Bayern Munich and Brighton & Hove Albion.
“However, it has now been found that he requires time off the field for healing and rehabilitation. To determine the following stages, an assessment is ongoing.
“Everyone at Manchester United wishes Lisandro the best and anticipates his return as soon as possible,” the statement read.
The Red Devils’ Premier League campaign will resume on Saturday at home against Crystal Palace without the Argentina international.
Along with league games against teams like Manchester City and Newcastle United, he will also miss crucial Champions League matches against Galatasaray and Copenhagen due to injury.
