Marcus Rashford could face Malta after return to England training

Based on the fact that he has only missed one training session this week, the Manchester United striker is likely to be in the running for a spot in Friday’s second-to-last Euro 2024 qualifier at Wembley.

There is still no word on Kalvin Phillips’s status in the team that will play Malta. He was given leave to join later because of a personal matter.

Rashford’s return is a huge boost for Gareth Southgate as he sorts out his starting eleven for Friday night’s game.

The 26-year-old is now a regular starter for England, and the head coach will be glad to know that he will be able to use him. He plans to put together a strong team to play Malta and keep his team at the top of the qualifying group.

Marc Guehi wants to start at Wembley so that he can make a case for starting at Euro 2024.

There looks like a race between the leader of Crystal Palace and Harry Maguire to play next to John Stones at center-back for England next summer.

“Beginning at the Euros, it’s hard to even think about that because there are so many great players here,” Guehi says.

“It’s hard to even try to put your name somewhere.” A very good player named Ezri Konsa has been called up.

“Of course, Harry, Fikayo Tomori is always here.” John will come back, but it’s hard to think because there are so many big names.

Southgate wants to try out different strategies in Monday night’s games against Malta and North Macedonia.

In the next five days, Trent Alexander-Arnold might get a chance to play his new role as England’s center midfielder again. Southgate will also try to improve the inverted full-back system he used in the friendlies against Australia and Canada last month.
