In Scotland’s 2-2 draw with Georgia, Scott McTominay scored a goal from outside the box, continuing his great play for the team.
With this goal, Scott McTominay has scored seven goals in the UEFA European Championship qualifiers. This is an amazing feat for the Manchester United player.
The 26-year-old defender was recently brought back into the team by Erik ten Hag, but his game against Luton Town wasn’t as good.
But McTominay is one of Scotland’s best players, and Steve Clarke’s plan to use him as a more advanced playmaker is working out great.
McTominay is a star for Scotland
So far in Euro 2024 qualifying, only Romelu Lukaku (10) and Cristiano Ronaldo (9) have scored more goals than the player. It has been an amazing run for him.
There was a draw in Georgia, and Scotland is still second in their qualifying group. However, they have already qualified for the playoffs next summer.
Out of the 43 passes he tried while playing the advanced middle, McTominay completed 38 of them. The Scot also finished all of his dribbles and won 66% of his ground duels. It was a great game for him.
The United midfielder was set up by Kenny McLean near the edge of the box. The shot went through the legs of a defender and past the goalie, though the finish was shaky. If luck is on your side, it stays that way.

McTominay could play a different role for United
A worry for Erik ten Hag is that McTominay doesn’t seem to be able to change games as much for England as he does for Scotland. But the Dutchman’s choice of where to put the midfielder on his team is not helpful.
His fighting skills are good, but they aren’t good enough right now.
The Scottish defender is sometimes used as the most important player in the engine room, which is not the best way to use him.
Perhaps putting the 26-year-old in as the second number 10 along with Bruno Fernandes would bring out his best. His speed and energy in the middle of the field, especially higher up the field, could be just what the Red Devils need.
