Players from Manchester United rushed to the airport to catch a trip to Wales, where they would play Newport County in the FA Cup.
Their first stop will be Cardiff, and then they’ll go to Newport for the game on Sunday.
The Premier League team will only be in the air for 21 minutes as they fly from Manchester to Cardiff.
It would have taken 3 hours and 29 minutes by club bus or 3 hours and 23 minutes by train to go the 143 miles.
The bus ride from Cardiff to Newport will take longer than the 21 minutes they spend in the air.
In the past few years, the Manchester Giants have taken short flights more than once.
In 2021, they had to take the 10-minute flight to get to Leicester because the M6 was so crowded that they couldn’t drive.
What an over-the-top way to get around! It shows how different United is from their League Two opponents.
Portsmouth is 76 places and three levels below United. They will be looking for an FA Cup surprise at Rodney Parade.
The Welsh group is doing everything they can to improve their chances of killing a giant.
They built a portable stand to make their home field bigger so that the important event could fit more people.
And their manager, Graham Coughlan, thinks that the extra 1,000 seats will help them beat Erik ten Hag’s team.
“Being that close, you can hear everything from the sidelines, even when you don’t want to,” he said. They’re right on top of you, and it’s a strange feeling.
“It’s rude and loud, and when they start beating that drum, it’s a great atmosphere to enjoy.”
Newport’s team shows that the game on Sunday will be a David vs. Goliath battle.
Man United’s starting lineup cost them close to £300 million, while the Exiles’ team is thought to have cost them nothing.
