Rasmus Hojlund will wear No. 11 for Manchester United this season, and the striker might make his debut against Arsenal this afternoon.
Prior to United’s 3-1 preseason friendly victory over RC Lens, Hojlund was introduced around Old Trafford after signing a £72 million contract with the club. After a stress fracture in his back was discovered during medical examinations, he has yet to play for his new team.
He has been participating in full first-team practice for the past week, and Erik ten Hag confirmed he will play at the Emirates. The possibility that the Danish international may have taken Fred’s No. 17 once he moved for Fenerbahce led to the delay in assigning the player a squad number.
However, Hojlund has occupied the No. 11 position since Mason Greenwood left on loan for Getafe. He wears the same jersey number while representing Denmark internationally, but he has never worn it at the senior club level.Alejandro Garnacho has replaced Fred as the holder of the No. 17 jersey, a shift that he previously announced with a photo posted on social media. Before Mason Mount, a summer signing, took the No. 7, the Argentinean was wearing No. 49 and was considered a possible No. 7.
On the day of the deadline, Altay Bayindir and Sergio Reguilon both came to United, filling in any last-minute roster shortages. Bayindir will wear the No. 1 jersey for his first season in England, replacing David De Gea, and Reguilon will wear the No. 15 jersey, which was most recently worn by Marcel Sabitzer. Jonny Evans resigned from his short-term contract after the preseason and stayed for an additional year. The Northern Ireland international will don No. 35, and it is anticipated that his expertise would benefit the United team.
The seventh and last addition of the summer, Sofyan Amrabat, came from Fiorentina on loan. United paid the Italian team a loan fee of €10 million and has the option to make the transfer permanent for €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons.
