It’s no secret that should funds allow, Barcelona may look to add a new midfield player in January after losing Gavi for the duration of the campaign.
The Blaugrana would have to start making money if they wanted to sign a new midfield player in the winter transfer window after deciding to sign Vitor Roque during Gavi’s absence.
Giovani Lo Celso of Tottenham Hotspur has been designated as the top target in that scenario, but it looks like the Catalan giants may have new options.
Offers Donny van de Beek to Barcelona
Donny van de Beek, a midfielder for Manchester United, has reportedly offered to play for Barcelona during the second half of the season after losing favor at Old Trafford, according to SPORT.
The Netherlands international, who paid €40 million to join the Red Devils, has not made much of an impact on the Premier League team and is not a key component of Erik ten Hag’s plans.
After playing very little for the last six months or so, Van van Beek is keen to leave Manchester United.
He has therefore made himself available to Barcelona, whose coaching staff is still keen to bring in a new midfield player because they think the season will be lengthy and they could use more depth, provided that money is available.
Barcelona is unsure
According to the report, Van de Beek is a player with a very “Barcelona” profile, but because he hasn’t played frequently for Manchester United in months, there are questions about him inside the team.
Furthermore, Juventus are interested in signing the Dutch midfielder and are in talks over a loan deal with a purchase option, hoping that he can hit the heights he showed at AFC Ajax.
Recall that shortly after Barça signed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, they expressed interest in Van de Beek, but the deal fell through.
It’s unclear if the La Liga winners are prepared to take a chance on Van van Beek given that the midfielder is now willing to give himself to the team.
