After coming back from the winter break, Manchester United players were seen working at Carrington on Tuesday morning.
Since we didn’t play again until Sunday in an Emirates FA Cup fourth-round match at Newport County, two weeks after our 2-2 draw with Tottenham, Erik ten Hag gave his team some time off last week.
The Africa Cup of Nations is going on right now, and Sofyan Amrabat and Andre Onana are representing Morocco and Cameroon, respectively. But our other players got to rest and recover with friends and family.
A lot of Reds fans posted pictures from their vacations on social media, but now everyone is back to talking about football and the upcoming trip to Rodney Parade. Fourth-tier Newport beat Eastleigh in last week’s third-round replay to set up the first-ever competitive meeting between the two teams.
Before the break, Ten Hag said that January would be the month when our injury fears start to ease. Lisandro Martinez played again against Spurs, but Casemiro didn’t play at Old Trafford as a substitute.
Our most recent pictures show Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw with the group. It’s not yet clear if they will be ready to play at the weekend, though.
Shaw hasn’t played since the 2-0 loss to West Ham United before Christmas, though he did pull out of the Tottenham game at the last minute. Maguire is still recovering from an injury that caused him to be taken off during the first half of the UEFA Champions League home match against Bayern Munich on December 12.
The two people were there on Tuesday, when it was windy and rainy in Manchester because of Storm Jocelyn, which has made the whole country unhappy.
In our special photos from the lesson, you can see Maguire and Shaw working with the ball with the rest of the team.
Amad hasn’t been seen since his first United game in two years against Nottingham Forest, but he was seen at Carrington with young Academy grads Omari Forson and Kobbie Mainoo.
United will be missing Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, and Mason Mount before the game in South Wales. Amrabat and Onana will also be away, and Andre’s AFCON fate will be decided tonight.
When Ten Hag holds his press conference on Friday (exact time to be announced), he might talk about the quartet.
