It is said that Manchester United is ready to try to sign Everton back Jarrad Branthwaite a third time.
The Red Devils tried to sign the skilled 22-year-old twice in the summer, but Everton turned down both offers. According to talkSPORT, its looks like they are still interested.
However, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt ended up joining Manchester United to make the team stronger. Yoro hasn’t been able to make a mark yet though because of an injury.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, on the other hand, are not playing well and will not be under contract after this season. This means that someone like Branthwaite could also come in.
United’s plans to hire Ruben Amorim as manager soon are also said to be important in their pursuit of Branthwaite. According to talkSPORT, Dan Ashworth believes that the England international will fit in well with Amorim’s chosen style of play, which is to play three at the back.
Is it true that Manchester United needs another defender?
Branthwaite is a good player, and Manchester United will need players like him in the back after Yoro has been hurt. Lisandro Martinez has also had health issues for a lot of his time at Old Trafford.
The Everton back has been called a “monster” by Ian Wright, and if United don’t get him, he’ll probably end up at another top club.
At the moment, though, United may have a bigger problem in attack, where Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho are all not playing as well as they should.
Rashford and Garnacho have slowed down and aren’t offering enough quality from the wings. Hojlund and Zirkzee, on the other hand, don’t seem to have what it takes to be prolific scorers in the middle.
Branthwaite would probably be expensive because Everton has already tried to keep him. This could be a pointless chase that drains United’s resources, leaving them unable to bring in a quality player who can change the game at the other end of the field.
