PUMA has announced the acquisition of Harry Maguire, the English and Manchester United defender. Maguire will debut his new PUMA footwear at England’s historic 1000th international match versus Montenegro on Thursday evening at Wembley Stadium.

Ever since relocating to Old Trafford, the defender who holds the title of being the most costly in the world has been much sought after. PUMA emerged victorious in the competition to secure his signature, and the Manchester United player has now entered into a long-term agreement with the brand. 

Harry Maguire, aged 26, has made 24 appearances and scored one goal for the England national team, contributing to their advancement to the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He will receive his next cap later this week as England endeavors to secure a place in EURO 2020.

Getting the £80 million player on board was a big deal, and Maguire is happy about it: “To sign with such a prestigious footballing brand like PUMA is a huge honor.” I want to do my best for both my club and my country, so I must work with a partner who shares my goals and has boots that are both innovative and comfortable. It will make me proud when I put them on for the first time while on international duty.”

A famous artist from Manchester named AKSE made a mural of Maguire in Manchester’s Northern Quarter to celebrate Maguire’s signing with PUMA. That the piece of art is called “This Is The One” is a sly nod to the red half of Manchester. It also brings to life the PUMA ONE 5.1 boot that Harry will be wearing on Thursday.
