Manchester United ‘want to re-sign Angel Gomes on a FREE transfer next summer’ – with Ruben Amorim ‘a long-time fan’ of the former Red Devils academy star😍😍

Manchester United is apparently looking to sign Angel Gomes again next summer. Gomes used to play for the United youth team.

Man United are reportedly eyeing-up a move to re-sign Lille star Angel Gomes next summer

At United, Gomes, now 24, came up through the ranks and made his debut against Crystal Palace in May 2017 when he was 16 years and 263 days old. That made him the club’s fourth-youngest player of all time.

Gomes joined United when he was six years old, but he didn’t get much better over the next three years. He only made 10 appearances across all games before being let go in the summer of 2020.

Gomes signed a five-year deal with Lille and has done well there. The player was called up to the England team earlier this season.

Gomes, 24, came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford and made his debut at the age of 16

There has been no movement on a new deal for the 24-year-old player since his current deal with the French team ends at the end of the season.

The Sun says that United are hoping to sign Gomes for free because the midfielder is one of their top summer transfer targets.

The story says that new Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim, who has been a fan for a long time, supports a move for Gomes. Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox also think highly of him and think he can be an important part of the Portuguese’s plans for the club.

Lille knows that Gomes is likely to leave for free, so they let him talk to other teams in January and sign a pre-contract agreement.

United is also thought to be sure that Gomes, who grew up in Salford, can be persuaded to return to the club. The 24-year-old is seen as a long-term replacement for Casemiro, who is 32.

Tottenham and Arsenal are also said to be interested in Gomes, but he said last month that United will always have a special place in his heart.

He said, “There’ll always be that sentimental soft spot.” “So it would be hard to say no,” she said.

The midfielder has impressed at Lille and broke into the England squad earlier this season

Also, Gomes made it clear in 2022 that he would love to move back to Old Trafford if the chance came up.

Do I think about going back one day? “Of course, it’s home,” Gomes told the French news site L’Equipe.

“I wish I could come back.” In sports, though, you never know. I just need to keep my balance and enjoy the game. I have no idea what will happen in the future.

Gomes also played 18 times for Lee Carsley’s England Under-21 team, which won the Euros in 2023.

Gomes became the fourth-youngest United player of all-time when he made his debut in 2017

Gomes spent his first season with Lille on loan at Boavista in Portugal. Since then, he has played 129 times for Lille, hitting nine goals and setting up 19 others.

During the recent international break, he played for the Three Lions once off the bench, in the last 11 minutes of their 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland.

The midfielder will play again on Sunday when Lille, who are fourth in Ligue 1, host Rennes.
